Here’s how this past week has gone!
Sunday – Half hour swim.
Had an insight: Breathe when you need to. I was thinking about it: I get short of breath during running all the time. It doesn’t throw me into a totally tizzy. I just breathe more heavily, more shallow, whatever I need to. Hmmm, could I do this in swimming? Well, obviously, it’s not as flexible. But why do I have to consider it a failure if I breathe every stroke for a few strokes and then go back to bilateral? Just do that when you need to. At least for now, as I strengthen my swimming.
Monday – Was scheduled for a 6 mile run, but we had a “forgot the backpacks” morning snaffoo, so I had to cut it short. 5.6 miles, average 9:28. Also ran 1.3 miles at Girls on the Run practice. = 70 minutes
Tuesday – off
Wednesday – Cycling class = Lots of out of the saddle hills. Body conditioning class = I’d never been to this class before. Don’t feel like I’ll go back unless absolutely necessary. I felt like I’d gone back in time and was following a Jane Fonda video. Interesting, not my cup of tea. = 2 hours
Thursday – Athlete zone group strength class in the evening. = 1 hour
Friday – Swim lesson. Maybe added up to a half hour because I got there early and stayed a few minutes after, but we talked a good deal during this. Plus, 10 mile run. Little windy out and this run felt good. 9:57 avg, last mile at 9:27. = 130 minutes
Saturday – Cycle class. Plus, 3.2 mile run with my daughter! She wanted to go farther and faster…and we did!! = 1.5 hours
TOTAL = 500 minutes (8.3 hours)
Whoa! That added up to more than I thought…and probably more than my Coach intended.
- Strength = 2 hours
- Swim = 1 hour
- Bike = 2 hours
- Run = 3.3 hours
Oh…and I found out that the 10 mile race, for which I training for, that was to take place next weekend is cancelled! Cancelled. What? Not a huge deal…but I was training for that!!
